Pursuant to Florida Statutes 83.49, if you intended to claim any portion of my security deposit, you were required to give a compliant written claim notice within 30 days after I vacated. The statute permits certified mail or qualifying email under section 83.505. As of today, I have not received a compliant notice. If the statutory procedure was not followed, section 83.49(3)(a) may prevent a claim against the deposit, although it preserves a separate damages action.
